雖然叫做橙冠蟲森鶯，但其頭部的橙色一般是看不到的。雄鳥羽毛更加鮮亮，而其中分佈於西部的橙冠蟲森鶯羽毛又比東部的橙冠蟲森鶯更加鮮亮。
