LHS 1140b这颗超级地球位于適居帶，质量约为地球的6.7±1.8倍，半径约为地球的1.4±0.1倍[2][5]，由此推算其密度约为地球的2.3±0.6倍。並因為該行星有凌星現象，讓天文學家得以觀測它的大氣層。
LHS 1140距离地球约39光年，形成于50亿年前，质量约为太阳的15%，自转周期为130天，没有观测到耀斑现象。[6]其行星LHS 1140b的公转半径约为0.09个天文单位，大约每25日，公转且通过LHS 1140前一次[2]。
LHS 1140b是由MEarth計劃發現，並以高精度徑向速度行星搜索器（HARPS）量測出徑向速度[6]。
